Att is realeasing a new phone in 2 days called the att "jack" or blackjack3. Its smaller than the blackjack2 and it looks just like a blackberry. It has windows mobile 6.1 and you can upgrade it to widnows mobile 6.5, how eber I don't no if it works with mobilespeak but the blackjack2 does so I'm hoping this does as well. Its only 99 dollars if you sign up for a 2 year contrac with att. If it works with mobilespeak I'm going to get it in 2 months when my contract is up for renewal

I would double check withATT disability department (browse the att wireless site for the disability link and somewhere on that page is a 800 number you can call to talk to them specifically about their deal with mobile speak and which phones they offer deals with) But as far as i know mobile speak works for all windows mobile phones, and the current version is compatible with windows mobile 6.1 across the board.

Yeah, I agree you should definitely give the disability service people a call. Also, if you can't get a good answer from them, call Code Factory.

I have the black jack 2, and am also looking into a new phone. That would be totally awesome if the "att jack" is compatable with mobilespeak!!!!!!!!!

the only difference between the 2 and the "jack" is instead of the circle button with the small button in the center there is like just a ball that goes up down right left just like the black berry that is the only difference between the 2 phones so I'm thinking it will work but haven't had a chance to call and make sure

I joined the mobile speak mailing list on code factory.es. A few people have said that code factory plans on supporting the jack, but haven't given them a specific date when it's going to happen. Also, a few people have bought it, and said that mobile speak works fine on it. I bought it today online, and can't wait for it to come.

Did you get your Jack yet?

A friend of mine bought one over the weekend, and she let me install Mobile Speak just to see how it worked.

At first, I thought everything worked fine. I was able to explore the phone, adjust settings, browse the Internet, and check email.

But the one thing it wouldn't let me do is read what was in the "My Stuff" folder. I have no idea why. As soon as I tried to open "My Stuff," it stopped reading. You can use the Review Cursor to read the contents of that folder, but once you turn the Review Cursor off, Mobile Speak stops reading. You can select items in that folder by clicking on them, but again, Mobile Speak doesn't tell you what you've selected. If you use your soft keys to go into the menus while in My Stuff, Mobile Speak will read the options.

One other thing I noticed is that Mobile Speak doesn't talk while you're on a call. I'm not sure if it's a firmware issue with the phone (similar to the Q), or if that's something Code Factory can work on.

Two other things I noticed (that have nothing to do with Mobile Speak):

-The signal strength wasn't very good. I tried the phone in an area where my original Nokia 6682 and now my Motorola Q get perfect signal strength, and the Jack had 51%. When I took it into an area where the Q tended to have 53 percent, the Jack had 9%.

-The battery seemed to drain quickly. It seemed to go from 75% down to 25% within an hour or two without being in an actual call.

It'll be interesting to hear if people like the jack better than the blackjack2.

Have y'all been happy with your blackjack2?

Hey, I got my jack, and I have noticed the same thing about the my stuff folder. I have also noticed that the battery drains really quickly. I just chalk it up to it being a smart phone. I do tend to text, and browse the net a lot, so maybe that has something to do with it. I haven't really paid much attention to the signal strength since I have att. It basically always sucks. I know the phone has wifi on it, but haven't quite figured out how to use it yet. Being that I have never used mobilespeak while in a call, I don't care if it speaks or not lol. Other than that, I love my new phone. (well for a smart phone that is) I have att, and had my up grade. I'm not a huge fan of att, but since they are licensed with code factory, it's what I'll keep. I got the phone for $99, after rebate, so I'm not complaining lol. Maybe depending how orator works, and how much it is, in a year and a half I'll get me a black berry lol.

It's been a little while since those of you who got your new Jacks. How are you liking them?

Honeymoon over? *grin*

Hey, if I read correctly on code factories website, the att jack is on the deal with mobile speak discount.

In order to get the discount, does one have to order the phone via AT&T? There are way better deals on letstalk.

if i remember correctly you can get the phone anywhere you like so long as its part of the mobile speak deal once you have the phone you can call them pay the $90 and should be able to activate mobile speak. Once again i say give the disability depart ment a call browse the att wireless website for the disability link and the number is on that page. Also a wealth of other info on there if you are an ATT customer so check that page out.
